Sonshiners: Jungle Prada History Tour

“Explore 1,000 years of Florida history on the Jungle Prada Tour. This is a guided walking tour of a historic landmark in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Jungle Prada Site was part of an American Indian village from 1,000 CE until 1,600 CE. You’ll learn about the lives of the Tocobaga people at one of the best-preserved shell mounds in Florida. The Jungle Prada Site is generally recognized as the landing place of the 1528 Narváez Expedition. The survivors, led by Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, walked from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean over eight years (1528 – 1536)! You’ll encounter free-roaming peacocks that have lived at the Jungle Prada Site for decades. Come and discover a side of St. Pete that you never knew existed! Safety Statement: Due to the historic nature of the property some surfaces are uneven. Please watch your step and use caution on the paths. Other potential risks include all those that naturally arise from walking through heavily wooded or natural areas.” – Tripadvisor
